mep summer camp

Families, along with members of the NC Department of Instruction and WCPS central service staff, gathered at Spring Creek Elementary School to enjoy a captivating theater production presented by our MEP Summer Camp. Throughout the 4-week program, 30 K-5 children from across the district experienced academic and personal growth as well as attended field trips that reinforced their learning.

The camp's culmination was an inspiring theater performance, featuring an original play and songs written by local drama instructor, Dr. Johnice Johnson. The play's empowering songs, including lyrics such as "I like me! It's okay to be me," and “When you’re feeling sad, make a rainbow!,” left a lasting impression on both the young actors and the audience.

Heartfelt appreciation was extended to the dedicated teachers involved in the program, the parents who entrusted their children to us this summer, and the funding from the Migrant Education Program that made this wonderful experience possible.mep staffmep 2mep childrengifts
