Parent and Family Engagement

Involving and engaging parents and families as partners in their children's education are cornerstones of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). When parents are provided opportunities to be engaged partners at home and school, children benefit and are more likely to experience success. 
Wayne County Public Schools is committed to Parent and Family Engagement. We seek to engage our parents with activities that include but are not limited to:
Involvement of parents and family members in jointly developing the plan, policy, and school- parent compact 
Coordination, technical assistance, and other support necessary to assist and build the capacity of all WCPS participating schools in planning and implementing effective parent and family involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance .
Coordinate and integrate parent and family engagement strategies with other relevant Federal, State, and local programs removing barriers to ensure greater participation by parents address the needs of parents and family members to assist with the learning of their children, including engaging with school personnel and teacher strategies to support successful school and family interactions continuously involve parents in Title I served schools, by establishing parent advisory councils comprised of a sufficient number and representative group of parents served by the school (ensuring involvement with developing, revising, and reviewing the parent and family engagement policy)
