Eastern Wayne Athletics has really shined this past week. On Saturday evening our Varsity Boys basketball team clinched 1st Place in the 2A Neuse as they defeated Goldsboro HS to go undefeated and earn the regular season crown. Congratulations to Nasir Williams who finished 4th in the 2A Regional Wrestling Tournament. He has earned a spot in this upcoming weekend's 2A State Championships in Greensboro. This past Friday Rahkeem Faison, Jeremiah Faison, Koriante Williams, Gavin Britcher, Averiah Bryant, Taylor Waters, Tamiyah Boone, Janiya Benton and Diamond Edwards competed in the 2A State Track Championships in Winston Salem. Rahkeem Faison earned 2nd Place honors in the 55m and 300m, Jeremiah Faison earned 3rd Place honors in the 55m hurdles and Koriante Williams earned 4th Place honors in the shot put. We also want to give our other Warrior qualifiers some love even though they fell short in medaling. They gave their overall best. We also want to thank Coach Oates, Coach Broadhurst, Coach Gates, Coach Daughtry and their assistant coaches for the hard work in preparing our athletes this year.
This upcoming week our Varsity Warrior Teams will compete in the 2A Neuse Conference Tournament. Monday, the varsity girls basketball team will head to Beddingfield HS to take on Spring Creek HS at 3:30. The varsity boys basketball team has a first round bye and the time and location will be determined tomorrow. Please check out the school's Facebook page for updates on game time and locations for this upcoming week.
Lastly, our FFA Alumni BBQ Plate sale was a success this past weekend. I want to thank the community who participated in helping our EWHS FFA raise money for their program.

These summer pre-apprenticeship programs allow high school students interested in maintenance, mechatronics, engineering, and agriculture to explore these fields through classroom instruction and hands-on experiences, all while earning tuition-free college credit and getting paid! 🧑🔧⚙️💻

On Friday, our Warrior Men’s Wrestling Team will head to Ayden Grifton HS to begin their NC Regional meets. These meets will continue through Saturday, February 15th. Also our Warrior Track Team will head to their State meet on Friday. On Saturday our Warrior Basketball Teams will travel to Goldsboro HS with games beginning at 3:00.

This is a transportation message for Bus 477. This bus will not run again until Monday, Feb. 3. Parents please make alternative arrangements to get your child to and from school. Even though the winter weather was nice, I am hoping that it is behind us so that we can continue our 2nd semester without any interruptions.
We have several athletic events this upcoming week. On Monday, the Warrior Swim Team will compete in the Conference Championship at the Goldsboro YMCA. On Tuesday, the Warrior Basketball teams will host Goldsboro HS. Tip time is 4:30. On Wednesday, the Warrior Track Team will host the Conference Championship here at EWHS at 4:00. On Thursday, the Warrior Basketball teams will host Beddingfield HS beginning at 4:30. To wrap up our athletic week, our Warrior Basketball Teams will host Princeton HS with games beginning at 4:30. 💥Inclement Weather Announcement
Due to continued icy conditions impacting secondary roadways in some areas of the county, all schools will remain CLOSED for Students, tomorrow, Friday, January 24th. Students will return to school on Monday, January 27th.
For Staff, Friday will be an Optional Workday with a 2-hour delay. All staff that report to work should report 2-hours later than usual.

On Wednesday, January 15th, we will have Early Dismissal at 1:00. Please ensure you arrange for your child to be picked up if they are a carpool student.
Students, we will be beginning our Warrior Focus schedule this upcoming week. We will have Warrior Focus after 2nd Period for 45 minutes. Our daily schedule will be as follows. 1st Period, 2nd Period, Warrior Focus, 3rd Period and 4th Period. It is a requirement that all students attend Warrior Focus. On Monday, we will have 1st Period Warrior Focus, on Tuesday, we will have 2nd Period Warrior Focus, on Wednesday, we will have Homeroom, on Thursday, we will have 3rd Period Warrior Focus and on Friday, we will have 4th Period Warrior Focus.
Parents and Students! All buses are back on schedule and will be running their AM and PM routes. Thank you for your continued patience during this time even though transportation was a struggle the 1st Semester.

Due to the potential for winter weather, Wayne County Public Schools will release 2 hours early on tomorrow, Friday, January 10th. For Eastern Wayne High School, we will be releasing at 1:00. Please ensure you arrive on time to pick up your child if they are a car rider.

We are excited to announce that EWHS has partnered with WCC to offer the Nurse Aid 1 class right here on our campus. This is an amazing opportunity for not only these 10 ladies, but all students who are part of CTE’s Health Science pathway. If you have questions or interest in this program, students can stop by to see Mrs. Amy Smith in our vocational building. Congratulations to this first group of students on this new endeavor. We are proud of you!
