EWHS Celebrated a successful first semester. Our first STAR TEACHER awards were presented to three dynamic teachers as nominated by the student body. Mrs. Amy Smith, CTE Health Sciences, Social Studies, Mr. William Lee, and Athletic Director, Coach Oates. WE SALUTE each of you.

What a great time for our Men’s Basketball team outing. Off the court and on the lanes these young men had a great time hanging out celebrating the end of the semester. We are looking forward to the upcoming holiday tournament at UMO starting Friday night.
Good Evening Warrior Family, this is Mr. Jones, the proud principal of EWHS. I hope everyone has had a restful and safe weekend and are ready for the upcoming week.
Beginning tomorrow, students will be taking their State EOC, CTE and District Make Up Exams. On Monday, 1st period state EOC, CTE and District Make Up Exams will be administered. On Tuesday, 2nd period state EOC, CTE, and District Make Up Exams will be administered. On Wednesday, 3rd period state EOC, CTE, and District Make Up Exams will be administered. On Thursday, 4th period state EOC, CTE, and District Make Up Exams will be administered. On Friday, all make-up state EOC, CTE and District exams will be administered. Attendance will not be noted this week, so if students do not have an exam on the designated days, they do not need to report to school. It is important that students report to school on time and focus on their exams. We are wanting to continue this upward trajectory of student achievement moving into the 2nd Semester.
We will dismiss students each day once exams have concluded. This will be between 12:15 and 1:00. No early checkouts will be permitted or allowed unless proper documentation is presented.
On Friday, December 20th, the Varsity Boys Basketball Team will participate in Round 1 of the FCA Winter Classic at the University of Mount Olive against James Kenan HS with a 7:00 tip time. We hope to see great student, parent and alumni participation to fuel our Warriors to victory.
On behalf of all the staff here at EWHS, we hope each of you has a wonderful week and a safe holiday season. We hope you spend some quality time with family and friends and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of our National Honor Society students went and participated in Wreaths Across America at the Veteran's Cemetery today. They represented EWH well. Some also helped do Jingle in the Park last week at Herman Park. The director of Parks and Rec had nothing but wonderful things to say about our students! Thank you for representing EWHS with pride! 👍🏼❤️

We have several athletic events this week. On Monday, basketball will travel to West Craven. JV Boys will start at 4:30, Varsity Girls at 6:00 and Varsity Boys at 7:30. On Tuesday, Warrior Swimming will have their meet at the YMCA in Goldsboro at 5:30. On Wednesday, basketball will have their first home game of the season with JV Girls starting at 3:45, JV Boys at 5:00, Varsity Girls at 6:15 and Varsity Boys at 8:00. Also, Indoor Track & Field will have their first home meet starting at 4:00. On Friday, basketball will travel to Southern Wayne High School. JV Boys will start at 4:30, Varsity Girls at 6:00 and Varsity Boys at 7:30. On Saturday, our JV and Varsity Boys basketball team will travel to North Edgecomb for their 9:30am JV game and 8:15pm Varsity game. Also, our JV Girls basketball team will travel to North Lenoir HS to take on Goldsboro HS with the tip time at 11:30..
On Monday, December 9th, our Warrior Baseball team will host a fundraiser at Pizza Inn in Goldsboro from 5:00-9:00. We hope to see everyone there supporting our Warrior Baseball team.
It is that time of year again for Youth Intramural Basketball Registration. Registration will be held on Wednesday, December 11th in the EWHS Cafeteria at 6:00. Spread the word in your community about registration and we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday night.
Due to lack of participation, the E-Dub Got Talent Show that was scheduled for this Friday night has been cancelled. We are looking to revisit this opportunity in the future.

Winter is quickly approaching. With that being said, EWHS will have Winter Spirit Week starting Monday, December 2nd and will run through Friday, December 6th. We would love to see student participation during this time! Monday is Candy Cane Day! Dress in Red and White. Tuesday is Santa vs Grinch Day! Pick a Side, Santa or the Grinch? Wednesday is Ugly Sweater Day! Thursday is Christmas Character Day! Dress as your favorite Christmas Character. Friday is Polar Express PJ Day! Let's have some fun with this. But remember, school dress code must be followed.

On Saturday, our Varsity Boys basketball team will travel to Harrells Christian Academy to take on St. Pauls with the tip time at 6:00PM.
To help raise money for our athletic teams, our EWHS Booster Club will host a Reverse Drawing here at EWHS on Friday, December 6th at 6:30. Exams will start the week of December 9th. These exams will be non-EOC’s. The week of December 16th, we will have our EOC and CTE exams. It is very important that your child attends school on these designated exam days. We want to ensure 100% attendance during these days which will result in 100% exam participation.

An incredible milestone happened for our band! Performing during the first two rounds of the state playoffs. You see, we haven't had a band instructor for a number of years and we are in a building season. Mr. Tharrington is doing an amazing job with these young people and we are proud of them. Congratulations 🎉🎵
🏀JV Girls, JV Boys and Varsity Girls basketball games that were scheduled for Tuesday, November 26th have been cancelled. These games will be rescheduled at a later date!🏀

I would like to give a big shout out to our EWHS JROTC. This past Friday, they had their yearly inspection. Our JROTC program earned a perfect score! They are only 1 of 2 schools in our region of approximately 190 schools to receive a perfect score! Congrats to Col. Smith, Sgt.Turner and our JROTC cadets for all their hard work and dedication to the JROTC program.
Seniors, if you were not able to place your cap and gown orders this past week, Mr. Kornegay, the Herff Jones representative, will be back on Tuesday November 26th. Please mark your calendars if you did not purchase your cap and gown and/or other items online.

Congratulations to our Warrior Football Team as they have moved on to the 3rd Round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs in a hard fought game against Princeton. This upcoming Friday night our Warriors will travel to Whiteville HS with a kickoff at 7:00.
On Tuesday, our Warrior Wrestling Team will compete at North Lenoir High School at 5:00PM.
Also, on Tuesday, our JV Girls, JV Boys and Varsity Girls Basketball Teams will travel to South Johnston High School for their away games. These games will begin at 3:45PM.

This past Thursday, EWHS students participated in the 2024 WCPS Special Olympics. The students competed at the AMF Boulevard Lane in Goldsboro. The students did an amazing job and represented EWHS well. We are so proud of these students.
This upcoming Wednesday is an Early Dismissal Day for WCPS students. Dismissal time is 1:00.
Our “Coins for a Cause” initiative which was to raise money for those in need in Western North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Helen was a great success. Due to the generosity of our students, we were able to make a contribution to the relief efforts for these families in need.

Congratulations to our Warrior Football Team as they took care of business this past Friday night against Northwood in the 1st Round of the NCHSAA 2A State Playoffs. This upcoming Friday night the Warriors will take on the Princeton Bulldogs at home with a kick off at 7:00! We hope to see you all here at Warrior Stadium cheering on our players and supporting our Warrior Booster Club at the concession stand.
Congratulations to our Warrior Cheer Team as they competed and took home 1st Place in the 2A Neuse Conference Championships at North Johnston High School this past Saturday. We are extremely proud of our Warrior Cheer Team as they competed with respect and showed outstanding school spirit and sportsmanship!

Taylor Waters Signs National Letter of Intent to Play Soccer at UNC Pembroke
Excitement filled the air as Taylor Waters, a standout student-athlete here at EWHS officially committed to playing soccer at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Surrounded by teammates, family, and friends, Taylor signed her national letter of intent in a special ceremony.
A key player on the EWHS soccer team, Taylor has earned recognition for her exceptional skills, leadership, and dedication. Over the past four seasons, Taylor has played a pivotal role in leading the Warrior team and her impact has been undeniable both on and off the field.
Taylor also plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association.

On Monday, November 11th, we will be recognizing the Veteran’s Day Holiday. There will be no school for students and staff on Monday. On Friday, November 8th, Eastern Wayne High School honored and recognized several veterans during our annual Veterans Day Ceremony. This year, we were fortunate to have Colonel Steven Bofferding, Deputy Commander of the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, as our guest speaker and honored guest. On behalf of everyone at Eastern Wayne High School, thank you to all the men and women who have served and currently serve our country. You are an inspiration to us all. Words can’t express our heartfelt gratitude and admiration. Attention 10th Grade Parents and Students!! Please mark your calendars. We will host a Pre-ACT parent night on Thursday November 14th from 6:00 - 7:30PM in the cafeteria. This is the opportunity to get a better understanding of the Pre-ACT assessment, scores and the impact on the collegiate and career planning process. Please join us for an evening of information that will impact your future!! Some Seniors will be taking the Workkeys assessment on Wednesday, November 13th. To help prepare our students, we have offered remediation to ensure students know what to expect and to ensure they will be successful. “Coins for a Cause” is an initiative to raise money for those in need in Western North Carolina as a result of Hurricane Helen. We are asking for students to bring in change to put in the appropriate grade level jug! Students can bring change to the front office and or the cafeteria during their lunch until November 15th.
