National Honor Society Inductions are Friday, May 23, at 9:00 am in the new gym. This is a special occasion to honor NHS students and their accomplishments. New members will be recognized, and seniors will receive their cords during the induction ceremony. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
Yesterday, several of our students were recognized for the completion of the Nurse's Aide Program through Wayne Community College. Congratuations to Lea Carachure, Yudanni Ventra Cruz, Daniel Trejo, Emely Perez Perez, and Yurytzia Vazquez Velasquez on this outstanding achievement. Emely was also recognized for having the highest average in the program. We are proud of all of these students!

Nuclear Mechanics and Navy Recruiters stopped by Mrs. Allen's Chemistry class today to share how science is used in the real world, especially in the Navy. Such a cool way to see how what we learn in class connects to real careers!
Students, you have one last chance to order a yearbook! Lifetouch has agreed to let us place another order. The new price of the yearbooks is $55 to cover the additional fees with this order. All money for yearbooks must be paid by next Tuesday, May 20th, at 3:00. Mrs. Ducasse will place the new order that afternoon, and no extra yearbooks will be ordered.
Prom is Friday, May 16th at Walnut Creek Country Club from 7pm-11pm.
Our dress code is formal attire. Men should wear a tuxedo or a Sunday suit. Men must have neckwear or a banded collar. Ladies should wear formal gowns or pantsuits. No dress/pantsuit or slit may be more than fingertip length above the knee. Sheer overlay material does not count in determining the length. Extremely low-cut dresses are not allowed.
Any student under suspension on the day of the prom will not be allowed to attend. All ticket sales are final. No refunds will be given. Tickets may not be given to or used by another person. The name on the ticket must match the individual present at Prom. Students who do not attend Southern Wayne should have some form of identification when entering.
Be mindful of your activities before coming to Prom. Any behavior deemed inappropriate will not be tolerated.
Students are required to attend school on the day of Prom for at least half of the day. (1st and 2nd period) Students must complete the 2025 Prom release form if signing out and return it to the front office by tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14! Students who sign out will be counted absent for 3rd and 4th periods.
Tickets will be distributed at the end of 2nd period. Students without a second period will pick up their tickets from the front office.

We are proud to announce the 2024-2025 Junior Marshals. Using the weighted GPA scale, Junior Marshals are the top 7% of the junior class at the end of the first semester. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication, earning them this prestigious honor. Congratulations to our Junior Marshals!
