An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Saturday, September 9th, 2023 at 10:00 AM:
Hello Golden Falcons Family:
Hope you enjoy a wonderful weekend!
We have had 2 very good weeks to start our 2023-24 school year! Week 1 our teachers reviewed all rules and expectations during our grade level homeroom meetings, and in Week 2 we had Grade Level Assemblies to review our expectations one additional time. At this point, I feel confident our Golden Falcons understand and will meet our expectations of excellence.
Kudos to our students for embracing our Cell Phones / Earbuds / Personal Electronic Devices Policy and expectations, as we have had to only collect a few cell phones these first couple weeks of school. Keep up the good work.
I also appreciate our students' efforts to transition to class on time in order to meet our expectation of no tardies throughout the school day as we strive to protect the instructional time in all of our classrooms. We expect Bell to Bell Instruction, with High Quality Teaching and Learning for every student in every class, everyday.
With regard to our tardy policy and expectations, please help us start our day off on a good foot by arriving at school on time each day. Plan for traffic in the drop off circle and allow a little extra time in the mornings to make sure all of our students are in class when the 8:00 AM tardy bell rings.
Students, please help us with proper attire that meets our Wayne County Public Schools dress code. We are still having to address a few too many students who are not properly dressed for school.
A few reminders for our upcoming week:
This week we will be on our normal flex week schedule, with students going to 1st period, then 2nd period, then to their Flex period, then 3rd period and lunch, and then to 4th period. During the Flex Period they will rotate as follows:
Monday - back to 1st period
Tuesday - back to 2nd period
Wednesday - back to 3rd period
Thursday - back to 4th period
Friday - back to Homeroom
This Friday we will have our 11th and 12th grade AYC Student Government Election Speeches at an assembly during Flex time.
Students please remember to pay your fees, which may include: Locker Fees, Parking Permit Fees, and/or Senior Fees.
Students please check your email daily. This is an important skill and habit to learn as throughout life in many careers and training, email will be a consistent form of communication.
Seniors please check your email for important information regarding scholarships that has been sent to you by our school counselors.
Student-Athletes please check your email for an important message from Mr. Morgan regarding our new CBA Student Athlete Advisory Council.
Congratulations to Coach Cassie Kermode and Coach Rich Huff for earning their NFHS Level 3 National Coach Certifications! They become the 29th and 30th Coaches at CBA to earn this highest level of our National Coach Certifications program!
Lastly, we have new CBA Letter Jackets, if you are interested please pick up a form in the front office.
Stay Golden Falcons and we look forward to another great week at The Flagship!

An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 10:00 AM:
Hello Golden Falcons Family!
We had a great 1st week of school and are excited for another productive week after our Labor Day Holiday weekend!
A few reminders for next week:
All Parents and Families who pick up your student in front of our school, please make sure you pull all the way up the the front of the New Gym to the speed bump area to wait for your child, as to allow more cars to enter our parking lot and get off our Highway 117. Thank you!
Please remember that we will have NO SCHOOL for students and staff on Monday, September 4th as we recognize our Labor Day Holiday. We will see everyone back at CBA on Tuesday, September 5th.
On Tuesday, September 5th will be our first College Awareness Day and we encourage all of our students and staff to wear their favorite college gear to school to encourage conversations about various colleges and universities as part of our college & career going culture.
On Wednesday, September 6th we will hold our Senior Make-up Photos. Please see information from Mrs. Terrell regarding our Senior Make-up Photos. Seniors who signed up for retakes on Wednesday 9/6 need to check their email for their appointment time. If they signed up, and they did not receive an email, please contact Mrs. Terrell.
Next week, we will transition to 1st Period class at the beginning of each school day, then on to 2nd period, and then to Homeroom again during our Flex Time.
We will have Grade level assemblies during our Flex Time next week as follows:
Tuesday - 9th grade assembly
Wednesday - 10th grade assembly
Thursday - 11th grade assembly
Friday - 12th grade assembly
Students please be mindful that Senior Fees, Locker Fees, and Parking Permit Fees need to be paid. Failure to pay these fees will result in a fee being added to our Fees Owed List which students must pay in order to participate in School Dances, Proms, and other Special School events this year. It will also result in a fee being added to our Fees Owed List which students must pay in order to Graduate.
Students and Families, please continue to be mindful to allow extra time in the mornings for your safe arrival on time to school. We still have too many students arriving late to school which will result in students being held in our ISS Room for Tardy Central instead of disrupting the ongoing instructional time in our classrooms. We need everyone's help on this one as our school day starts on time at 8:00 AM. Please try to have your child on our campus by 7:45 AM to 7:50 AM at the latest.
Students and Families, please also help us with appropriate attire to wear to school each day. We are still seeing too many students who do not meet our WCPS Dress Code. Students who are out of dress code will be held in our ISS Room until a parent / guardian is able to bring an appropriate change of clothes. We are still seeing too many students wearing leggings that do not have a cover up that goes down to fingertip length. We also still see too many students showing the bellies, and/or whose shorts are too short. Please help us maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly educational environment by adhering to our WCPS Dress Code.
Thank you to our students for doing a nice job with meeting our expectations of not wearing hats, hoodies up, and headgear inside our school buildings.
Also, Kudos to our students for doing a nice job adjusting to our Cell Phone / Earbuds / PEDs policy and expectations. Our cafeteria is louder at lunch with all of the social conversations, which I am happy to see and hear.
We look forward to another awesome 2nd week at The Flagship!
Stay Golden Falcons! #TheAycockWay

An Important Message from CBA - Tuesday, 8.29.23:
Hello Golden Falcons Family:
It's another great day at CBA! We had an awesome 1st Day of school, and look forward to a tremendous 2023-24 school year!
Please be reminded of a few important items:
Class Drop / Add: Class Change Request Forms are in the Front Office and must be completed, signed by a parent or legal guardian, and returned by Wednesday 8.30.23 at 3:00 PM.
Dress Code: We are seeing too many students out of dress code. Please be mindful to wear clothes to school that are appropriate and meet our WCPS dress code. Students who do not meet dress code will be assigned to ISS until a parent or guardian can bring proper clothes to school for the student to change clothes. Students who continue to have issues with dress code violations will also face other disciplinary consequences per our Discipline Matrix.
Tardies: Students please be mindful to get to school earlier each day. We have a lot of students who are arriving at school after the Tardy Bell. Please know that starting the week of September 11th, 2023 all students who arrive late to school will be placed in the ISS Room for Tardy Central for the remainder of 1st period and then be allowed to transition to their 2nd period classes at the end of 1st period. Students in Tardy Central will be provided their class assignments via their Canvas class and the provided laptop. Students are expected to transition to their classes on time throughout our school day. Any students who are tardy will report to our ISS Room for Tardy Central for the remainder of the period they are tardy.
Lunch: All students must eat their lunch in the cafeteria. Students should not eat lunch in the media center, classrooms, the gyms, and/or other areas of our school facilities. This is a sanitation, cleanliness, and school safety issue.
Lunch - Restroom use: Please be mindful that during 3rd period (All lunches), we should allow no more than four (4) boys or girls to use the restroom at a time. Also, teachers on the 100 wing and 600 wing please have your students use the 600 Wing restrooms during 3rd period so as to not overcrowd the 100 Wing restrooms during lunch. Same would apply for the 200 Wing = 200 Wing Restroom. 500 Wing & MC = 500 Wing Restroom, 700 Wing = 700 Wing Restroom. 300 / 400 Wing = 400 Wing Restroom.
Hallways Clear: Students should not be in the hallways during Instructional Time. The sign of a Great School is no students in the hallways during instructional time with all students and teachers actively engaged in High Quality Teaching and Learning, every class, every day, for every student. Bell to Bell Instruction. Give them all you have for 4 hours and 45 minutes!
Fall Sports - Student-Athletes & Coaches Meeting (New Gym - Wed. 8.30.23 - 3:10 to 3:30 PM): We will have a Mandatory Fall Sports Coaches and Student-Athletes meeting in the Ne Gym from 3:10 to 3:30 PM on Wednesday, 8.30.23. Please head straight to the new gym when the bell rings for school dismissal. Our meeting will take 20 minutes, so we want to start on time at 3:10 so that we can end on time at 3:30 PM.
Today's thought of the Day:
"CHOICE, not CHANCE, determines DESTINY." - Aristotle
We look forward to seeing everyone around the Flagship!
Stay Golden Falcons! #TheAycockWay
Great Schools do not have students in the hallways during instructional time!
Nice start to our 2023-24 school year CBA! And how about those floors?! Excellent job CBA Custodial staff! Stay Golden Falcons! #TheAycockWay

An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Saturday, August 26th, 2023 at 1:00 PM:
Hello Golden Falcons family:
Hope you enjoy our last weekend of summer before our 2023-24 School Year officially begins on Monday, August 28th!
We had great turnout at both our 9th Grade Open House and our 10th / 11th / 12th Grade Open House this week and look forward to a great first week of school!
A few reminders:
Our school day is from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM each day. Please arrive early to school and be patient if you are a car rider as we anticipate long lines as everyone learns / re-learns the system for morning drop off and arrival to our campus. Students may arrive anytime after 7:30 AM and may wait in the Cafeteria upon arrival until our bells ring to transition to class.
Remember, we will transition to Homeroom for the first 45 minutes of the day each day this week. From Homeroom, we will transition to 1st Period and then on to our other classes throughout the remainder of our day.
Please help us meet our expectation that we should not see cell phones, earbuds, or other personal electronic devices throughout our instructional day. From the time our students enter our school buildings to the time they exit our school, we should not see these devices per our new WCPS Cell Phone / PEDs Policy and CBA expectations.
Also, please remember to attend school on time as we will maintain our CBA Tardy Policy this year. Please also dress appropriately for school, as we will also enforce our WCPS Dress Code. Also, remember that once our students are issued their lockers, then we will not allow students to carry bookbags, large bags, cinch sacks, etc throughout our school during the school day. Lastly, remember that we place a premium on our expectations for a safe, orderly, and respectful educational environment at CBA. Students who fail to meet our expectations for behavior will receive the appropriate disciplinary action per our WCPS / CBA Discipline Matrix.
Congratulations to Coach Z and our Varsity Football Team for their 2-0 start to the season with big wins over county rivals Rosewood HS and Eastern Wayne HS! The Band, Student Section, Cheerleaders, Fire Truck, Band Boosters Ice Cream Truck, Athletic Boosters Concession Stand, Coach Luke Vail on the mic, and our Loyal Golden Falcons Fans make Friday Night Lights at CBA very special!
