Carver Elementary held our EOG Blast Off night last night, April 30. While our students enjoyed innovative games all space related, our parents attended an informative meeting with third and fourth grade teachers providing test taking tips, strategies and sample EOG selections and math problems. We had all the information translated in 3 languages for our parents. We also shared information on potential remediation and retesting as well as our Summer Scholars Program. At the end of the session, we provided a complimentary hot dog dinner cooked on the grill by a volunteer. We had an incredible turn out and wanted to share a few highlights from our night with the district. At Carver Elementary we are shooting for the MOON and if we don't make it we can still land on a STAR!
We will continue our EOG Theme through June hoping our GROWTH is out of this world!

Martin Luther King Day is observed on Monday January 15. It commemorates the life and work of Dr. King, who was a Baptist minister and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. King promoted the use of nonviolent means to bring an end to racial segregation in the United States. In 1964 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace for his efforts. He was assassinated in 1968.
The holiday is typically observed with events such as marches and rallies and speeches by politicians and civil rights leaders.

In December, a group of 4th graders helped to collect food for those in need and donated it to a local food pantry.
The representatives from The GWC ( Goldsboro Worship Center) Food Pantry came to say thank you to our kiddos for their generous donation.
In the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “The time is always right to do the right thing.”
Way to go Carver!!
Thank you Carver students for your generous donation to the food pantry.
Reminder: Wednesday, December 20, is an early release day for all WCPS students. All schools will dismiss two hours earlier than usual. Have a safe and happy Holiday break!

🎄 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Carver 4th grade students collected non perishable items for a local food pantry this year. The students had read a book entitled , “Holidays Around the World.” In the text they learned that many Winter Holidays help the “less fortunate “. This inspired the students to do something those in need .
For the both of December students brought in can foods, oatmeal, cereal and other non perishable foods. Mrs. Karla Smith, the principal, heard about the students’ efforts and brought in items to show her support too.
The items collected will be used to restock a local food pantry in Wayne County.
Reminder: Wednesday, November 29, will be an early release day for most Traditional Calendar schools, Carver Heights Elementary, & Goldsboro High. WEMCHS, WSTA, & WSE will dismiss at their regular time. All other schools will dismiss 2-hours early. Please contact your child’s school if you need more information.
