An Important Message from Charles B. Aycock High School for Saturday, October 14th, 2023 at 11:00 AM:
Hello Golden Falcons Family!
Hope everyone enjoys our fall weather as we reach the middle of October.
I want to commend our students on their school attendance as our students are attending school at a 93% attendance rate through the first 6 weeks of school. I would challenge everyone to place a premium on school attendance as we have a goal of having 95% attendance for all students at CBA. Parents and Students please continue to help us with daily school attendance as we know there is a direct correlation between school attendance and academic success.
Our Fall Sports Teams are continuing to flourish. Coach Huff and our undefeated men's soccer team vying for another conference championship this coming week; Coach Zietlow and our Varsity Football team is having another great season at 6-2; Coach Otellio and our JV Football team are rolling as well; Coach Davis and our Volleyball team are eyeing another trip to the state playoffs; Coach Matthews and our girls golf team played well at our recent conference championship match; Coach Thomas and Coach Horton have our Cross Country teams still running; and our Girls Tennis Team provided Coach Clark with his 700th career win! Way to get us off to a great start to our school year!
We are also experiencing great success in our CTE programs, with several of our students placing at our recent Wayne County Fair; and our Clubs performing well at their respective district competitions. Way to Go DECA, FFA, and FCCLA! Excellent job by our arts department with our Band representing us well at Band Competitions, and our Art students placing at the Fair and even having art work on display at the NC State Fair!
A few reminders for this coming week:
Tuesday is another of our College Days and we encourage everyone to wear their favorite college team gear as we celebrate our college and career going culture at CBA.
Wednesday is another of our Breast Cancer Awareness Days and we encourage everyone to wear Pink.
Our Herff Jones rep will be on campus on Wednesday to visit with our 11th and 12th grade students.
Thursday is the last day of our 1st quarter grading period, with our Report Card Distribution to be held on Friday, 10.27.23.
Friday, 10.20.23 is a Teacher Workday with no school for students on this day.
We look forward to another great week at the Flagship!
Stay Golden Falcons!
Congratulations to our CBA Art Student - Natalie Pabons whose art work was selected to represent Wayne County and WCPS at this year's NC State Fair in Raleigh! Quite and honor for one of our CBA Art Teacher - Mr. Jason Wolfe's tremendously talented art students! #TheAycockWay
