The Wayne County Board of Education approved the following administrative changes at recently held Board meetings:

Meadow Lane Elementary assistant principal, Melissa Edgerton, was named principal of Meadow Lane Elementary. She is replacing Ashley Radford who left to take a position with a school district in a neighboring county. Ms. Edgerton has 25 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2021. Ms. Edgerton holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in elementary education, and a master's degree in school administration with curriculum and instruction supervision. Ms. Edgerton is National Board Certified. She also holds a certificate in school management and leadership.

“In addition to her administrative experience, Ms. Edgerton's understanding of Meadow Lane Elementary's diverse school community will make her an asset to the students, staff and families,” states Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent. “Our district administration will support Ms. Edgerton during this summer transition, and work with her to support her efforts to build upon Meadow Lane Elementary's academic success in the coming year."

In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Board has also approved the following assistant principal changes: Christy Straughan-Haley (Fremont Elementary), Stephanie Webber (Meadow Lane Elementary), Beverly Anderson (Grantham Elementary) and Darlene Hodges (Wayne Middle/High Academy).

All of the administrative changes took effect July 1, 2024.
