Wayne County Public Schools - The journey of excellence begins here!

During its regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the Wayne County Board of Education approved the following principal changes:
 
Brogden Middle Assistant principal, Lorrie Kester, was named principal of Brogden Middle. Ms. Kester has 17 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2023. Ms. Kester holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and business, a master’s degree in middle grades education, and a master’s degree in school administration.

Carver Heights Elementary principal, Dr. Kevin Smith, was named principal of Edgewood Community Developmental School. Dr. Smith has 19 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in his current role since 2023. Dr. Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in exceptional children education, a master’s degree in school administration, and a doctorate’s degree in education.

Charles B. Aycock High assistant principal, Robert Jones, was named principal of Eastern Wayne High. Mr. Jones has 13 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in his current role since 2023. Mr. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in school administration.

Dillard Middle principal, Mario Re, was named principal of Goldsboro High. Mr. Re has 26 years teaching and school administrative experience and has served in his current role since 2020. Mr. Re holds both a bachelor’s degree in middle school education and a master’s degree school administration.

Dillard Middle assistant principal, Lynette Wilson, was named principal of Dillard Middle. Ms. Wilson has 26 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2021. Ms. Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education and a master’s degree in school administration.

Eastern Wayne High principal, John Waters, was name principal of Wayne Early/Middle College High School. Mr. Waters has 27 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in his current role since 2022. Mr. Waters holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management, an emotional disability special education certificate, and a master’s degree in school administration.

Edgewood Community Developmental School principal, Linda Brown Rouse, was named principal of Carver Heights Elementary. Ms. Rouse has 31 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2023. Ms. Brown Rouse holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree in middle school science, and a master’s degree in school administration.

Fremont Elementary principal, Kelly Holland, was named principal of Grantham Elementary. Ms. Holland has 23 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2017. Ms. Holland holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in elementary education, and a certification in school administration.

Grantham Elementary principal, Tracy McKeel, was named principal of Rosewood Elementary. Ms. McKeel has 34 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2021. Ms. McKeel holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a K-12 reading certification, a master’s degree in elementary education, and is licensed in school administration. Ms. McKeel is National Board Certified.

Rosewood Elementary principal, Holly Ball, was named principal of Northwest Elementary. Ms. Ball 20 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2021 Ms. Ball holds an associate’s degree in education, a bachelor’s degree in middle school education, and a master’s degree in school administration.

Northwest Elementary principal, Sheila Wolfe, was named principal of Fremont Elementary. Ms. Wolfe has 33 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2017. Ms. Wolfe holds a bachelors degree in physical education and health, and a master’s degree in school administration. She is also National Board Certified.  

Wayne Early/Middle College High School principal, Dr. Freda Allen, was named principal of Wayne School of Technical Arts. Dr. Allen has 28 years of teaching and school administrative experience, and has served in her current role since 2016. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education, a master’s degree in school administration, and a doctorate’s degree in education.

“Each of these administrators bring with them teaching and administrative experience that will benefit the students, staff and families at their respective schools,” states Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent. “Our district administration will support these administrators and schools during this summer transition, and work to support them in their efforts to build upon the academic success at their schools in the coming year."

In preparation for the upcoming school year, the Board has also approved the following assistant principal changes: Sherida Suggs (Brogden Middle), Teresa Hollar-Watson (Charles B. Aycock High), M. Tracey Jones (Dillard Middle), Melissa Edgerton (Fremont Elementary), Thomas Presley (Goldsboro High), Monique Wilson-Thomas (Grantham Middle), Stephanie Webber (Meadow Lane Elementary), Laurie Keck (North Drive Elementary), Charlie Davis (Norwayne Middle), Dr. Terrance Green (Spring Creek Elementary), Jaclyn Lewis (Spring Creek Middle), Jennifer Heatley (Tommy’s Road Elementary), and Harold Barnes (Wayne School of Engineering).

All of the administrative changes will take effect July 1, 2024.
