The Wayne County Board of Education will hold a Board Retreat on Wednesday, August 23 through Friday, August 25 at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT) Eastern Campus, located at 2 Irvin Garrish HWY, Ocracoke, North Carolina. The retreat will begin at 4 PM on August 23, and will be held for the following purposes:

- Facility Utilization / Attendance Line Review
- Teacher Recruitment / Cadet Program
- Mission / Vision Statement
- 5 Year Strategic Plan
- Review of Next Steps
- Legal Workshop
