Southern Wayne High School principal Karen Rogers has resigned, and the district is beginning its search process for a replacement.

Mrs. Rogers began her education career in 1997 as an exceptional children’s teacher at Southern Wayne High. She worked in various education and school administration capacities and has served as principal of Southern Wayne High since July 1, 2022. Her resignation became effective April10, 2024.

“Wayne County Public Schools will be actively working to put in place an outstanding principal leader for Southern Wayne,” states Dr. Marc Whichard, superintendent. "In these closing weeks of school, it is our goal to help Southern Wayne High continue the great work and academic momentum happening each day in its classrooms.”

The district administration will continue working with the assistant principals, who are the acting school administrators, providing support to ensure staff and students successfully advance the mission of teaching and learning as we close out the school year.
