Attendance
The primary responsibility for good school attendance lies with parents and guardians of students. Parents and guardians of students between the ages of 7 and 16 are legally responsible to cause their children to attend school. All students are expected to be in attendance every day throughout the 180-day school term unless temporarily excused by school officials. Students missing 6 or more days in a semester may be in jeopardy of not receiving course credit. In accordance with the rules and regulations of the North Carolina State Board of Education, the following conditions shall constitute valid reasons for student absences:
Illness or injury
Quarantine
Death in the immediate family
Medical or dental appointments
Court or administrative proceedings
Educational opportunity
Excuses granted for educational opportunity must have prior approval of the principal.
