Greetings Brogden Middle School Students, Parents, and Community,

As we stand on the threshold of a new school year, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey that lies ahead. It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome each of you back to Brogden Middle School, where we are ready to embark on another year of discovery, growth, and success.

To our returning students, welcome back! We’ve missed you and are eager to hear about your summer adventures and to see all the amazing things you’ll accomplish this year. To our new students and families, a heartfelt welcome to the Brogden Middle School community. We are thrilled to have you join us and look forward to getting to know you better as we work together to make this school year one of the best yet.

This year, we will continue to focus on improving proficiency in Reading, Math, and Science with a focus on growth for every student. We are working to enhance academic programs, promote social-emotional learning through Character Strong, and foster a culture of respect and kindness. We will continue to build an environment of respect and discipline as we capitalize on academic instructional time and provide the optimal learning environment for all students. Students, your success and well-being are at the heart of everything we do, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Let’s embrace this new school year with open hearts and minds, ready to learn, grow, and make lasting memories. Together, we can make Brogden Middle School a place where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Warm regards,

Lorrie Kester

Assistant Principal

Sherida Suggs

Dear Brogden Community,

I am absolutely thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal for the upcoming school year. As I step into this role for the first time, I bring a deep enthusiasm for education and a strong commitment to creating a supportive and nurturing environment for all our students.

I hold an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management with a Concentration in Child Studies. My educational journey continued with a Master’s Degree earned in 2012 from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, followed by a recent second Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

My journey with Wayne County Public Schools began in 2015 as a first-grade teacher, where I developed a profound passion for empowering students and teachers to reach their fullest potential. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving on various leadership teams and contributing to impactful initiatives such as The Rural Teacher Leader Network and The North Carolina Principal Fellows Program. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of collaboration and communication to meet the diverse needs of our students and their families.

As I transition into this new role, my primary goal is to support our dedicated staff and principal in our shared mission: to cultivate an environment that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to student growth. I believe that education goes beyond teaching—it’s about inspiring and empowering students to become outstanding citizens in their community. In my years as a classroom teacher, I worked hard to create an inviting and respectful atmosphere where every student felt valued and supported. This commitment to empowerment is something I am eager to bring to Brogden Middle School.

I am excited to be a positive influence not only for our students but also for my fellow educators. I am committed to empowering each of you, recognizing the unique contributions you bring to our collective mission. My vision is to foster a thriving collaborative environment where our faculty can develop their leadership skills and enhance our learning community.

I look forward to embarking on this exciting journey of creating an enriching educational experience for our students.

Warm regards,

Sherida Suggs
