This year’s guest speaker was Andres Lara, “The Cuban Guy.” Mr. Lares is a motivational speaker, CEO of A. Success Training, and author of How to Stay Motivated During Difficult Times, Inspire The Sleeping Giant Within, and The Finish Line.

“Mr. Lara’s story is one of inspiration,” stated Beverly Kee, WCPS Assistant Director of Federal Programs. “At the age of 16, Mr. Lara escaped Cuba. After arriving in America, he was without his parents, without money, homeless for a while, and could not speak English. His use of personal experiences and how he overcame his struggles provided great insights for our schools and those families who were seeking strategies to help their children become successful.”

The annual Title I Parent Seminar is a fun, free, and educational opportunity for parents. The event is designed to provide new and innovative strategies to help motivate children and engage them in their education.

As part of the event, WCPS Director of Federal Programs, Antonia Johnson, took a moment to highlight positive changes in the area of Federal Programs. She recognized Beverly Kee for becoming the district’s new Assistant Director of Federal Programs.
