Schools on the “Non-Traditional Academic Calendar” to hold Open House events

Next week, the three schools, which all operate on the district’s “Non-Traditional Academic Calendar,” will hold Open House events.

The Open House events will allow students the opportunity to meet teachers, pick up supply lists, and see daily schedules for classes. Parents will also have the opportunity to ask teachers individual questions in reference to their child's needs, and hear teachers’ expectations for students.

Goldsboro High

The school will hold a “Freshman Sneak Peek” on Monday, July 31, from 9 am to 11 AM (9th grade students only). The school will hold its Open House on Thursday, August 3, beginning at 6 PM (Grades 9-12 students and parents).

Wayne Early Middle College High School
The school will hold an Open House for Juniors on Tuesday, August 1, beginning at 6 PM in the Moffatt Auditorium (located on the Wayne Community College campus). A Freshmen Open House will be held Thursday, August 3, beginning at 6 PM in the Moffatt Auditorium. Seniors and Sophomores can pick up their schedules on Wednesday, August 2, from 1-4 PM at the WEMCHS Conference Room located in the Hocutt Building.

Wayne School of Engineering
The school will hold a “Floating Open House” on Thursday, August 3. Students and parents can stop by the school anytime between 12-4 PM and 5-7 PM. No Open House activities will be taking place anytime between 4-5 PM to allow teachers a break for dinner.

“This is an exciting time for these three schools,” states Dr. Michael Dunsmore, WCPS Superintendent. “Open House events provide families a great opportunity to meet teachers and explore campuses. We would certainly encourage all students and parents to participate. Our teachers look forward to working with them and helping make sure they are prepared for the first day of school.”
